The best things in life are free

It's really easy to get caught up in the hussle & bustle of modern life. It's not uncommon to feel rushed off our feet, like we've got to be here or there, got to do this or that, like there simply aren't enough hours in the day...

I've made a lot of changes to my lifestyle in the past 9 months and I feel much better physically, mentally & spiritually for it.

One of the biggest changes I've made is to slow down & appreciate the little things, the simple pleasures life has to offer that I  used to be going far to fast to take in.

Taking time to breath & listen to the surroundings or stop & savour a beautiful view or even just listen to the sound of birds chattering away in the trees can be a great way to get away from the world and back in touch with the here & now.

Often our brains are whirling around at a million miles an hour worrying about this or that that hasn't actually even happened yet....and probably never will. As Mark Twain put it "I am an old man and have known a great many troubles, but most of them never happened.’

Now when I start to feel overwhelmed, or out of control, I make a deliberate effort to stop and just breath. To listen to the sound of my breath or appreciate the beauty of nature or truly taste the food I'm eating instead of inhaling it whilst multi tasking.

The mind & body are very much connected. The mind controls the body; the breath controls the mind.
