Making time
In the past few months slowing down to make time for myself has become less of a guilty pleasure and more of an essential part of my day to day routine.
Anyone who knows me knows I'm a grumpy tart in the morning, my natural inclination is to hit snooze at least 3 times, cursing the world for making me have to get up, begging for just 5 more minutes in bed.....
Part of making time for myself has ment changing my routine and going against my natural inclinations and I feel much better for it.
Rather than flying out of bed in a mad rush because I snoozed too many times I now get up at 6am each day so I have a full hour to myself to start the the day off on a positive note.
I start my day with a warm water & a slice of fresh lemon, read my goals and write down 3 things I'm grateful for then I do some gentle yoga listening to some peaceful music with some peppermint essential oil burning away in the background. It ignites all of my senses in a gentle, relaxing way.
Not only does this give me an opportunity to focus on my breathing it has also helped me become far more aware of both my body & my mind and what they're telling me; where in the past I was rushing through life completely unaware of my physical or mental health.
Even making time to make and enjoy a cup of tea or a healthy breakfast might be all it takes to have a "good" day.
Do you make time to include your wellbeing in your daily life?
